West Point, Mississippi, feels like Disney World or Clark’s Trading Post, or some kind of nostalgic amusement park – except that it’s very real life and very abandoned, quiet. A shadow of what once was. I wonder what it was like years ago, when Main Street was alive.

Tombigbee River
We took two pontoon boats on on the river this weekend. It was a real life country song; boats, beer, grilling, river banks, floating, friends. This really feels like The South; this is experiencing the real Mississippi.

Plymouth Bluff
Weekend hiking in Mississippi. We had been meaning to explore Plymouth Bluff for some time, and now we finally have. Everything was beautiful, of course. But what really shocked me was the history. Just over one hundred years ago, a small town thrived in this river bend; today, it’s gone. There is no trace.
