My last day at home until Christmas. The last day in shorts, last day with feet in the ocean. The very last of summer on a cool and misty day. We ate seafood at the Venus II across the street. We climbed out to the end of the jetty. My brother chased the seagulls, and I shivered in the water, willing to do anything to touch it one last time.

An afternoon walk along Plymouth Harbor, exploring with my camera. It was chilly, the first time I had to wear pants since the spring. But the sun was warm, and it was a welcomed mid-week escape.
I love that pirate ship.

Back at Sweet Berry Farm, this time for… apples! Fun fact: I discovered the farm a few years ago when searching for a place to pick apples south of Boston. And now, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been.
I was so excited to make the trip here while I was home. It was an absolute priority. Since I had a wedding to go to that weekend, we went on a Monday after my brother finished school for the day. Definitely not a traditional time to go apple-picking, but it was great – we basically had the entire orchard to ourselves, and it was *such* a beautiful, warm fall day. There was even a magazine crew on site staging the chicest wedding shoot!
If I lived here year-round, I’d be back in December for a Christmas tree. Since I don’t, it’ll be next summer for berries. Until then, Sweet Berry Farm.

A grey and misty morning; a warm afternoon. Coffee and croissants on the pier, a walk to the lighthouse, sail-boat watching.
It was so wonderful to be home again for this last bit of Indian Summer, to have this day in my favorite place with one of my favorite people.
Someday, when we’re done living abroad, this, this place, will be every day. I miss it when I’m away. But then I remember that I have both – here and there. Home and the world. Both always waiting for me to return. I love that.

I knew this little town was one train-stop north of me in Cambridge; I did not realize how charming it is. We had visited it last year, but by car and only briefly to visit the famous cathedral. This time, I wandered on foot to meet friends for tea (the best tea ever) along the river. Later, we wandered through the nearby antique store, and we probably would have spent the evening there, if it weren’t for me realizing the time and darting out to catch the last train back. This was a special discovery for me. I can’t wait to return, with more friends, and for more tea. And maybe for my own antique china tea-set or two.

I’ve lived in England for a year now; it took me that long to visit Borough Market, in spite of everyone urging me to check it out sooner. Well, the stars finally aligned, and I met some friends for lunch one afternoon during the week. I totally understand the hype now – I loved it! There were so many options, delicious bits from all over the world. I even found my favorite Greek mountain tea from Crete for sale at one of the stands (!!!). If only it were a little closer to Cambridge. Still, I’ll be back (if only to sample one of those giant meringues in my picture… Note to self: next time, bring extra cash).
