It was noticeable warmer in Otranto. A SoBe style strip of palm trees and a boat-lined main street giving way to an old town, to a castle, to a climbable fortress wall and unparalleled views of the blue, blue see. Open squares, such bright light.
We had lunch in the Old Town by the castle as a place we came across by accident. Rosé, pizza, fish stew. We wandered into a fabric store, around the marina, outside the wall, down more small streets. We ate gelato at a café by the water in the sun.
There were people swimming, fishing off of the piers and the beach. It was hardly October at all.
